Ultimate and Multi-Vendor Editions

CS-Cart 4 Beta is the first release to conform to the new edition policy.

That is, there are just 2 editions, Ultimate and Multi-Vendor.

CS-Cart 4 Ultimate is available in Free mode to replace the discontinued CS-Cart Community Edition.

CS-Cart 4 Ultimate with a single storefront is an extendible replacement for CS-Cart Professional.

Theme Editor

One of the killer features of this version is the builtin theme editor.

Now, you can customize your storefront in real time, and without a single line of HTML or CSS
code written!

You can play around with colors, fonts, logos, and backgrounds, all in real time and previewed directly on your storefront.

You can activate the Theme editor mode via the CS-Cart 4 admin panel, under Design → Design mode. Note that in Ultimate edition you should select a store first.

New Admin Panel Look & Feel

In CS-Cart 4, we have greatly improved the administrator area:

Sleeker and more modern design
Rearranged menus for easier navigation
Sidebar with search and additional functionality
Onepage order creation and editing
Dozens of minor improvements

Thanks to the user feedback, we were able to make the CS-Cart admin panel better than it ever was.

Performance Boost

The new CS-Cart is dramatically faster than the previous version. By optimizing the storefront block management routine, we achieved a great performance boost. Compared to CS-Cart 2.2.5 and 3.0.6, CS-Cart 4 is up to 3x faster and uses less CPU.

Improved Installer

We have simplified the installer and added a convenient post-installation Settings Wizard.

The new CS-Cart installation process has just 2 steps, one of which is accepting the license agreement.

Right after the installation, you will be able to set up some general preferences of your store using a quick step-by-step Settings Wizard:

Suppliers Add-on

We received a lot of feedback and requests to add the suppliers functionality to the Ultimate and Multi-Vendor editions.

Now, we are happy to introduce the suppliers feature in both the Ultimate and Multi-Vendor editions as a special built-in add-on.

Adapting Add-on from CS-Cart 3 to CS-Cart 4

Addons for CS-Cart 3 are highly compatible with CS-Cart 4.

For most add-ons, it is not necessary to go through every step described below.

Though, it is recommended to look over the whole list and refer to it during the adaptation routine.

Addon Folder

Move the add-on folder from addons to app/addons (according to the new folder structure)

addon.xml

Language code is now spelled with lower-case letters: EN → en, RU → ru

PHP

Replace tabs with 4 spaces (according to the PSR standards)
If any core classes are used, define the namespace Tygh at the beginning of the file, e.g.:

GET and POST HTTP requests must be sent with the methods Http::get($url, $params) andHttp::post($url, $params) (instead of fn_http_request and fn_https_request).
Multiple requests can be sent asynchronously with the Http::mget and Http::mpost functions.

Shipping methods, cscart_shipping, the params field was renamed to service_params

An empty array passed to the ?a SQL placeholder, will be compiled to the IN() expression, which will return 0 objects.

Example:

In CS-Cart 3, this would return all products, in CS-Cart 4, this will return none.

If you want to return all products in CS-Cart 4, you should use:

Introducing CS-Cart 3.1.1 API

CS-Cart 3.1.1 is on its way, ready to deliver a pack of great new features.

One of these features is the API. It is a long-awaited feature, and we are very proud to be able to announce it.

In this article, I will briefly tell you about some key points of CS-Cart API.

What is CS-Cart API

Basically, API is an interface used for app-to-app communication. Using API, one application can access and modify the data of another application. One of the most commonly used API paradigms is REST, which will be used in CS-Cart as well.

With the help of CS-Cart API, it will be possible to view and edit a store’s data by sending standard HTTP requests to it (over a secure channel, if necessary), with no need to open the CS-Cart admin panel or the storefront in a browser.

Features

The objects that can be managed remotely via the API in CS-Cart 3.1.1 are:

Products
Categories
Users
Settings

Such an object can be viewed, created, or removed, and its properties can be modified individually.

With the help of the API, a third party developer can write applications to communicate with a CS-Cart store quickly and easily.

Security

Users must be explicitly granted API access in the profile settings via the CS-Cart admin panel in order to use it. A unique security key will be generated, which will serve as the access password when sending API requests:

Regular user permissions are applied as well, and only a user with sufficient privileges will be able make changes in the store database.

This is just a brief overview of our new API. The full developer guide will be published later on our site. Stay tuned!

API will be one of the greatest features of CS-Cart, and we are looking forward to people using it. We are happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments section.

CS-Cart 3.0.5 is a maintenance release; it includes mostly bug fixes and improvements on the existing functionality. Lots of new features (some of which are mentioned in this post) will be introduced later, in the upcoming CS-Cart 3.1.1 which is currently under intensive development.

YouTube iFrame Embed Video Problem in IE9

For those of you not too tech savvy, I want you to know that the above code will only work if you paste it on a clean YouTube iFrame URL – one that doesn’t have any existing parameters already.

For an iFrame URL that already has other parameters (e.g. related videos option, show in HD, etc), you need to use a slightly different parameter when you append it in the iFrame URL:

&wmode=transparent

Example iFrame code:

Your Final Code may also look something like this. Notice the & where the single “&” was in the previous example – they are the same thing, one is just encoded.
